Jordan is a country that attracts thousands of visitors every year. And this is largely due to one of the wonders of the world – Petra.
If you want a weekend destination or a city break it may cost you almost as much as for a whole week. Why? Because the visa will be more expensive if you stay less. And you will pay more on tours so you can visit all the attractions.
This is the first thought of anyone who wants to visit Jordan. This is mainly due to the reputation of neighbouring countries. But is not ok to judge a book by the cover, or in this case by its neighbours.
Jordan is a safe, hospitable and a truly beautiful country!
We, in the few days that we travelled throughout the country we felt in perfect safety. We haven’t met any person who made us feel even a state of discomfort, on the contrary.
Once we were pulled over by a policeman to check our passports and ask if we were okay.
For us, it was as secure as any other country in Europe. As long as you stay in tourist areas and respect the culture (eg. women do not to wear shorts and tank tops) you will not encounter any problematic situation.
If you have 2-3 days available in Jordan, here’s what you could do, at a rapid pace:
Amman – Petra – Dead Sea – Amman – Jerash and back home.
Day 1 you can spend it as follows:
Day 2 you can dedicate it to the capital. Discovering ancient ruins, enjoying the local cuisine and losing yourself through the bazaars.
Day 3 you can discover the city with the best-preserved Roman ruins – Jerash.
We visited Jordan for 7 full days. And we can say that one week was enough to visit the most fascinating tourist attractions. If you have more than 7 days available, you can spend an extra day in the Wadi Rum or Dana desert. Or you can take advantage of the beneficial properties of the Dead Sea for a few days.
Back to the subject.
For the week in Jordan, we have prepared two itineraries. We chose the second one, which better suited the flights we had. We booked accommodation for a couple of days in Amman and did day trips to discover the surroundings. So we don’t have to worry about our luggage.
1 Day: Home – Amman
2 Day: Amman (visit Jerash and downtown Amman)
3 Day: Amman (Visit the Dead Sea and Mount Nebo)
4 Day: Amman – Wadi Rum (Jeep tour and night in the desert)
5 Day: Wadi Rum – Petra
6 Day: Petra (Visit Rose City)
7 Day: Petra – Amman (Stop to visit the AlKerak Castle and the Dead Sea)
8 Day: Amman – Home
1 Day: Home – Amman – Petra
2 Day: Visit Rose City – Petra
3 Day: Petra – Wari Rum (Jeep tour and night in the desert)
4 Day: Wari Rum – Amman (with a stop at AlKerak Castle)
5 Day: Amman (visit the city centre)
6 Day: Amman (Visit Jerash and the Place where Jesus Christ was baptized)
7 Day: Amman (Visit the Dead Sea and Mount Nebo)
8 Day: Amman – Bucharest
For one week of travel in Jordan, we spent about 900 Euro. (not including plane tickets)
