There are very few people who would not be impressed by the beauty of the Keukenhof Gardens. You will see an impressive range of beautiful tulips. Here we saw a lot of types of tulips I had never seen before.
In 2020 the garden is open between March 21 and May 10.
How to get to Keukenhof Gardens?
To get to Keukenhof Gardens you just need the will, because there are a lot of options to get here. You have buses that leave you right at the entrance, you can come by taxi or even bike (if you want a little workout). We took the bus as soon as we arrived in Amsterdam, directly from the airport. There are also buses in town, so stay calm.
What is Keukenhof Gardens?
Keukenhof Gardens is a park dedicated to tulips or, more precisely, the botanical garden of tulips. It is open only during spring, in the tulip season, season that changes its date, year to year (this year is between March 21 and May 19). And when I say park, I do not mean something small where you spend half an hour and then you get bored and go home. No, I mean a ginormous park, surrounded by fields of tulips. Tickets can be purchased online (https://keukenhof.nl/en/buy-tickets) as well as on-site, depending on how you prefer.
As expected, here you will admire the most beautiful tulips you have ever seen (or at least that was the case for us). Besides tulips, there are other beautiful flowers that fill the painting. Also in the park, there are:
- a mini green labyrinth that you do in 5 minutes, but it’s a little bit of animation.
- a stall where there are a few animals and the little ones can play with them.
- a windmill
- and if you get bored (I do not think there is such a thing) or rather you want to explore, you can also take the boat go to through the canals.
To help you explore easier, at the entrance of the park you have lockers where you can leave your luggage. It’s free of charge and is ideal for a 30-liter bag.
Do you have what and where to eat in the Keukenhof Gardens?
Inside the Keukenhof Gardens, you have all kinds of food. You have a few vans that sell you different snacks (we bought some french fries and they were perfect).
Besides, you also have a canteen, where you can eat all kinds of cooked food. It is arranged in a nice hard house.
Plus, several cafes and two candy boutiques.
So you do not have to worry about being hungry. You’ve got everything you want here, especially because you’ll spend a few hours here.
Is it worth going to the Keukenhof Gardens?
Although it may be crowded, I would say it is worth going to the Keukenhof Gardens. It is arranged as an perfectly. You can not complain about anything when you are there (maybe only about the tourists) and the ticket costs only 17 euros per person. If you want to enjoy the tulips, see new varieties and splendid colors, then this garden is for you. It’s perfect to be visited on the first day of a city break, we wrote here how we think it would look the ideal city break in Amsterdam.
This location is not the only one that offers you the joy of seeing the tulips (there are fields where you can take a walk). It is just the best organized and a place that you will certainly not be disappointed with.
