We stayed for a few months in Ireland, and RyanAir has had some offers that it was a shame not take advantage. We’ve been looking for a nearby destination, so we can leave in the morning and come back in the evening of the same day. So we chose Manchester, where we spent about 10 hours, and we say it’s good enough to visit the most important attractions and to feel the atmosphere of the city.
Since we only had a few hours to visit the whole city, we preferred to focus on the old city center, and using the app: “Visit a City” we tried to reach all the places that seemed more interesting to us.
We have discovered a spectacular array of architectural styles (Modern, Contemporary and Gothic). The buildings that impressed us most were the John Rylands Library, the neo-gothic City Hall and the Manchester Cathedral.
John Rylands Library – At first glance, “library” is not the first word that comes to your mind when you see this building. This masterpiece of the Victorian Gothic architecture looks more like a castle or cathedral, that could not but impress us and want to visit each corner.
The places where we decided to stop to recharge our batteries and grab something to eat, was a small cafe (Pret) for breakfast and a restaurant (Burger & Lobster) where we decided to spoil ourselves and try something new at the same time, namely lobster.
