Spice Jet Review: Economy Class. Delhi – Bangkok

About the Spice Jet flight

New Delhi – Bangkok

On our flight with Spice Jet the plane was a B737-800, I would say normal, especially if you have flown with such aircraft before. Flight details:

Flight No. From/Terminal To/Terminal Dep. Time Arr. Time
SG 87 Delhi/T3 Bangkok 9:10 PM 2:45 AM

Seat / cabin

Being a 3×3 seat configuration, we chose the window and the middle seat. We had hoped until the last minute that no one would come to seat on the other chair, but in vain. Among the last how entered the plane was our row colleague. To be able to choose your seat, you have to pay a fee, we paid $ 7.30 for both places.
The legroom was decent, not having a big problem finding a comfortable position. The seat although comfortable could not replace a neck cushion, so we could not sleep at all.

Duration

The flight lasted about 4 hours. Although at first it may seem a lot, in reality, it was reasonable. As soon as we took off, we tried to sleep, but without success. So we decided to take out the laptop out and watch a movie. As soon as the movie was over, the cards for the visa were handed. We barely finish completing them as the plane was already landing. So we can say it was a movie flight :D.

Spice Jet Luggage

Tickets to international destinations include the following baggage: hand baggage consisting of a piece with a maximum of 115cm (all sides gathered) for flights made by the Boeing aircraft and a maximum of 108cm for those made with Bombardier. The luggage weight must be up to 7 kg (including the duty-free shopping bag).
In addition to this hand baggage, you are entitled to a piece of checked-in baggage weighing at most 20kg (30kg if you travel to or from Colombo, Kabul, Dubai and Muscat).
For us, this luggage system was not ideal, having just a rucksack and a small camera bag. That’s why we had to check the backpacks. on hold the laptops and the electronics in our hands.
More details about luggage policy can be found on the company’s website: https://www.spicejet.com/airtravelbaggagefaq.aspx

Check-in

Check-in opens 3 hours before take-off and closes 60 minutes (75 minutes for Dubai and Kabul) before take-off. The interval can be called a standard one and you have enough time available.
The only unpleasant part we encountered during this check-in was that the company’s representatives did not manage to manage the flow of people. A few minutes before the opening of the check-in, a queue formed on the left side of about 20 people. During the opening of the check-in, another queue formed on the right side, both of the queues intersecting at the entrance between the dividers. At that moment a Spice Jet representative came and tried to move the queue on the left (the original one) behind the queue on the right. And it followed several minutes of arguing, which ended with the representative leaving without success.

Food

Tickets do not include food on board the aircraft. If you want something to eat, you can choose on the company’s website what kind of food you want and pay online. Instead, if you forgot to buy food online, you can do it directly on board the aircraft. Every chair has its own product catalog, so be sure you will not miss it.
The good part was that throughout the flight the water was free, served in small disposable cups (we made a mini-tower).

Verdict

It was a flight without unpleasant events, everything went normally. The staff of the aircraft was nice, helpful and smiling. The only thing I would modify would be that the Thai visa papers should be handed out earlier so that all passengers have time to fill them in and not rush because of the landing.
If we have the chance to fly with Spice Jet again, we’ll do it.
