Thai Lion Air Review: Economy Class. Bangkok-Phuket

Airplanes are the fastest way to travel to Thailand, the distance between major cities being quite large. But it is not the cheapest option.

Bangkok – Phuket with Thai Lion Air

The plane was a B737-900ER, the largest aircraft in the 737 series. It had a classic configuration of 3×3 seats and a total of 213 seats. Thai Lion Air being the launch client for this type of aircraft, with currently 66 such aircraft. Flight details:

Flight No. From/Terminal To/Terminal Dep. Time Arr. Time
SL772 Bangkok Don Mueang/T2 Phuket/TD 8:55 AM 10:20 AM

Seat / cabin

It was an exciting experience to walk through this plane to our seats. Although the feeling seemed familiar, looking at first like the rest of the 737, it was much longer. There was also an extra exit, which was just behind us. The chairs were quite comfortable, but nothing special to note about them.

Flight duration

Being a morning flight and not sleeping a lot that night, the flight was dedicated to sleep. Thus, we can say it is an easy flight, perfect for a morning sleep. If you think you are the only one, stay calm, most people are asleep.

Thai Lion Air Baggage Policy

Hand baggage must have a maximum of 7 kg and to be formed of only one piece. The advantage is that this company offers you in the ticket price a checked baggage. So we decided not to risk and sent our luggage in the hold, and take the laptops with us on the plane. The luggage had reached the destination, and we have not encountered any problems.

More details (and updated) about baggage policy can be found here: https://www.lionairthai.com/en/ThaiLionAir-Experience/Baggage-Allowance

Check-in

The check-in was very fast, and we did not encounter any notable event. The only thing to mention is that after leaving the checked baggage, you have to wait a bit and see if it will pass control (they scan them). Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport is the only airport where I have seen this thing.

Food

On this flight, we did not get anything to eat or drink. If you were hungry you could choose from a wide range of goodies, snacks.

Verdict for Thai Lion Air

It was the first time that take-off took place while there was music in the cabin. It was a strange feeling, especially that at taking off and landing you must be the most concentrated.

Being an internal flight, short and without great claims, it was an ideal flight. The baggage offered was rewarded them for the only 7kg you can take with you on board the aircraft.

If we will have the opportunity to fly with Thai Lion Air, we will do so, having no negative experience with it so far.
