The visa for India is pretty easy to get, all you need patience and other 2-3 things.
Citizens of the countries here, can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa).
The tourist visa is valid for 60 days after entering the country.
You can apply for e-Visa up to 4 days before the departure date. After you receive your confirmation you have 120 days to enter the country, so you do not have to leave the application on the last minute.
We applied for the visa two weeks before, Adriana’s visa was approved in 3 days, mine (Cezar) within 12 hours, so the term differs. We paid $164,7 for both visas ($ 82.35 x2) in October 2018.
Application is very simple, but you have to be patient, because there is plenty to fill in. The official site is: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html where you have all the information. You will be asked to fill in: passport data; Address; contact person data from home and India (hotel); work info. You will pay online.
You will attach:
And that’s all. Then you are waiting for confirmation by email, or you can download it from the same site and print it.
Tips
It is very important to note your temporary application ID that you receive when completing the form. If there is an error, the power goes off, etc., you do not have to redo the whole process. And at the end the Applicant ID to see the status and download the confirmation.
Once you have received your confirmation, you are going to print it and keep it with you all the time, your boarding in the plane is conditioned by this paper.
When we boarded the plane, encountered some problems both in Romania and in Russia (where we had a layover). In Romania we did not go to the check-in desk (with no check-in baggage, it was useless) and at the gate when we were to board the plane we encountered an issue. The guy, who checked us out, said he had never seen such a document stating the visa, so he called for a superior (he looked like a beginner). The other guy with an overall superiority attitude said there was no such thing, so after we said our point of view, they started to check. And 5 minutes later the phone came with the answer that we are OK to leave. So be careful when, to have all the documents with you, including the flight ticket for leaving India.
The second event we had when we were to board the plane between Moscow and Delhi. Here the same problem, but this time it was a more stubborn guy. And after he put us aside to wait to see what we’re going to do, there was another girl who had the same paper format to validate the visa. This time, our advantage was that the person was able to speak in Russian and had been in India several times. So weI let her do the talking. And the same, after 2 minutes of scolding, he did a sign that we can go on board.
We do not know whether it’s a new visa format, or it was just a software error, but it looks like we were not alone with that type of paper.
Once in India, we were given on the place a short form to fill in, and presented it with the visa confirmation at a counters for the visa application. Here is important to fill in a Delhi accommodation, preferably the name of the hotel.
