Kuta is one of Bali’s most popular cities due to the 5 km stretch of coastline along of which the city is. It’s really not one of the most romantic places on the island because it is quite crowded. But the sunsets that can be admired from the beach are magnificent. And if you head north-west toward Seminyak, the beaches are much more relaxed if you want peace.
It is the perfect city as a starting point to explore the southern part of Bali Island. We rented a studio in Kuta through Airbnb and a bungalow with a pool. Both for less than 70 Euros per week. And to venture out to the tourist attractions, we rented a scooter.
If you do not mind getting up early, 7 o’clock is perfect to visit the fish market. This is the time when fishermen return to the harbor with the catch of the day. And starting with 8-9 o’clock, locals come to buy the fresh fish.
Inside the market is full of small stalls, each seller having different fish species for sale. You will be able to admire sea creatures of all sizes.
Right next to the market there is also a small kitchen where a few locals can cook you anything you want to buy from the market. A perfect healthy breakfast!
A truly unique beach, Suluban is very small and favorite amongst surfers. After paying the parking fee, several steps are guiding you down to the beach (about 10 minutes). At the base, you will find a real system of caves and bays dug in limestone.
To get to the second portion of the beach, where there is also a small wreck, you have to go through the limestone tunnels. The beach itself is not very large but it compensates with its beauty. The best time to visit is at low tide when the beach is wider.
On the cliff around the beach, a lot of restaurants and shops have opened. So you can stay here until sunset to admire as it descends into the water with a cocktail.

The Uluwatu Temple is one of the most spectacular temples in Bali, and that is certainly due to its location. It is on a 75 meters high cliff, on the edge of the rock. The temple itself is very small, and you can visit the central area when special rituals take place. But you can walk around the temple, and be careful with the monkeys that are very skillful in grabbing anything that they think should be there’s. :))
The most beautiful time to visit the temple is at sunset and for this reason, it will be full of tourists who want to share the same experience.
Entry cost: 30,000 IDR / adult 20,000 IDR / child
Here is also a Dance Show from 18:00-19:00, for which the entrance is 100,000 IDR / person.
Temple of Uluwatu Program: 09: 00-18: 00
Karang Boma is one of the most perfect places to watch the sunset in Bali South. The view from this point is extraordinary, you can see the Uluwatu Temple in the distance, and the blue waves lapping against the rock at the base is breathtaking.
It is very easy to get to the Karang Boma Viewpoint, just half an hour ride from Kuta by scooter. You can park your scooter at the end of the street and then you just walk for a few minutes through the vegetation to the wonderful view. But you have to be cautious because there is not much protection fencing and it’s a long way down.

One of our favorites beaches in Bali is definitely the Green Bowl. Although small, it has everything you can want, white sand, blue water, and impressive views. Besides this, there is a cave inside which there are several stone altars, in which you can shelter from the sun. But you have to be a bit brave or fit to get to it.
The beach is at the base of a 75-meter high cliff and you have to get down and climb back a few hundred steps. The good part is that all the path is through the forest and you will be shadowed. It is also possible to notice monkeys among tree branches, but fortunately, they are not aggressive and they don’t care about you.
A simply wonderful beach in South Bali!
Nyang-Nyang is one of the most secluded beaches we have visited. Although after the bubble hotel opened, more tourists started to appear and the locals opened their boutiques. When we were here we are about 10 meters stretch of beach just for us. You’ll find locals how are renting umbrellas for shadow and coconuts. (prices are easily negotiable).
Because the reef is so close to the shore, you will also see some seaweed farmers taking care of the harvest.
You will surely find a piece of beach, from the 1,5 km, just for you. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, the salty scent of the sea, the quiet sound of the waves, and even gather some nice shells.
