What can you see at the Christmas Market in Sibiu?
In short, there are so many things to see that you will forget how time goes by. We visited for a few hours this year and it felt like a few minutes. The fair is attended by over one hundred exhibitors, you have an outdoor skating rink, a big wheel, a carousel and the Santa’s house.
The fair is well organized so it is easy for you to orient yourself. There are specially organized areas to serve a traditional Romanian winter meal, mulled wine (you can find it everywhere), and gingerbread. We arrived here with our bellies empty and we cannot say that we have regretted it. The food was delicious and the queues quite small, although we think that when it is crowded you have to have some patience to stay in the queues.
Besides fresh-cooked food, at the fair, you can also buy products made by locals to enjoy the delicacies at home. Cheese, smoked meat, sausages and everything you can think about you will find here, directly from the producer.
Also, you will find houses filled with Christmas ornaments, wreaths, jewellery, Christmas decorations made of wood, beautifully carved candles and so on.
If you get bored, you can go skating or ride in the big wheel, or if you have children you can let them in the carousel.

If you come to visit Romania, then it is good to know that Sibiu also has an international airport. For this reason, it is advisable to look for direct flights to Sibiu, as it is not obligatory to go through Bucharest (where the main airport of the country is located). Some examples of direct flights to Sibiu: Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Madrid, London, etc.

- Don’t show up at the fair with a full stomach or without an appetite
- If you want to buy gifts, it would be advisable to have a bag with you to make it easier. And most importantly to reduce the plastic waste.
- Pay attention to your pockets and all the valuable objects. We have seen enough people that seem to not be there for the holiday spirit. The police are present at the fair, but their mobility is limited in the crowd.
